Lt. Governor Lawton to Promote Wisconsin as Life Sciences Hub at the AllThingsLifeSciences Forum
Lt. Governor Lawton will address women entrepreneurs in the life sciences as well as venture capital and early seed investors at the AllThingsLifeSciences Midwest 2009 forum at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the FlunoCenter in Madison. Lt. Governor Lawton will inventory Wisconsin’s assets that position it to lead in the life sciences, including a highly-educated workforce, a strong network of higher education institutions that foster an entrepreneurial climate, and sophisticated technology transfer institutions like the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF).
AllThingsLifeSciences is the first-ever venture capital forum for women-led life sciences companies. Businesses recruited to join the forum work in a wide range of life science specialties, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, information technology and food processing. The forum is co-hosted by Springboard Enterprises, a non-profit organization that supports emerging women-led companies, and Phenomenelle Angels Fund, an organization that invests in women- and minority-led businesses in Wisconsin and the Midwest. Two other AllThingsLifeSciences forums will be held this year in New York City and Silicon Valley.
